TaxCalc Product Update - version 18.1.170 - Released on 26 March 2026

Please note: 

  • For Customers who have not already updated to Version 18, this update requires an installer to be run. Please ensure that you have local admin rights before attempting the update.

  • This release may result in a change to the IR Mark on any existing V3 CT600 returns.

  • Please check our System Requirements before installing this version of TaxCalc.

Tax Return Production

  • General Maintenance

    • Ensured that Tax Returns are automatically saved when adding to eSign envelopes.

  • SA100 & R40 – Individual Tax Return

    • Incorporation of the 2025/26 R40, SA100 Tax Returns and supplementary pages including:

      • Multiple changes to support the new Foreign Income and Gains (FIG) relief.

      • Removal of data entry relating to furnished holiday lettings.

    • Updated calculations, summaries and wizards.

    • Updated SimpleStep(R) for the 2026 tax year.

    • Updated the Transition Profits wizard for the new tax year.

    • Added functionality so that Class 4 NIC losses can be tracked.

    • Added the ability to claim the new 40% first year allowance within the Capital Allowances wizard.

    • Added a new information message for individuals who have made pension contributions and reached the age of 75 during the year.

    • General Maintenance

      • The TaxCalc Summary no longer includes a second row for additional rate income twice in the non-savings total (display issue only).

      • Added auto-population of the Agent Reference Number (ARN) on the R40 where the ARN has been entered through Admin Centre.

  • SA800 – Partnership Tax Return

    • Incorporation of the 2025/26 SA800 Tax Return and associated supplementary pages, including updates to summaries, wizards, HMRC helpsheets and worksheets.

    • Updated SimpleStep(R) for the 2026 tax year.

    • General Maintenance

      • Added ability to view the partnership allocation table on the Property Summary when an overall loss has arisen.

  • SA900 – Trust Tax Return

    • Incorporation of the 2025/26 SA900 Tax Return and associated supplementary pages, including updates to summaries, wizards, HMRC helpsheets and worksheets

    • General Maintenance

      • Unlocked box 5.17B on the Capital Gains Tax pages of the Tax Return.

      • The Tax Summary no longer includes a July payment on account when not required.

      • Updated the Tax Summary to only show rows relating to income tax chargeable when necessary.

  • CT600

    • Added an option to attach iXBRL accounts from Accounts Production for charities. 

    • Added a reminder dialog to the RDEC wizard to ensure that RDEC claims are being added back in the tax computation where necessary.

MTD Quarterly Filer

  • Simplified validation messages relating to commencement and cessation dates entered in the software.

Practice Manager

  • Added Agent Authorisation for Making Tax Digital.

  • Added the ability to fetch and link businesses with HMRC, within the client record, where a Tax Return Production or MTD Quarterly Filer licence is held.

  • Made performance improvements to the bulk update to allow for more records to be updated in one operation, making it possible to remove the 30,000 jobs/tasks limit that was implemented previously.

  • Added MTD Income Tax to the Filing status widget, so you can now see its availability status.

  • Changes made to the ‘Clients Enrolled for MTD’ widget. This has been split in two. There is now a separate widget for ‘Clients Enrolled for MTD Income Tax’ and another for ‘Businesses Enrolled for MTD VAT’. This will make it easier for you to distinguish between those enrolled for MTD IT and those for MTD VAT.

  • More MTD integration with PM:

    • Added ‘Link to Work Type’ dialog via MTD QF module.

    • Enabled ‘Link to Work’ button for MTD QF module.

    • Added link to work dialog for MTD QF module.

    • Added MTD Jobs automation around the different eSign statuses.

    • MTD: eSign – addition of the ‘Add to eSign’ button with the MTD module, so that MTD documents (Data Import Summary and Tax Calculation to Date) can be added to an eSign envelope alongside other document types.

    • MTD: Document Manager – signed MTD docs can now be sent to document manager from the eSign module.

Engager Integration

  • Sending documents to Engager

    • Customers linked with Engager will be able to send documents to Engager. When you select ‘Send to Document Manager’, you will have an option to select from the providers available to you (for example, SmartVault and Engager) and also select the folder that you want the document(s) to be added to on the Engager side.

  • Launching TaxCalc from Engager

    • Linked/Authenticated customers will be able to launch TaxCalc from Engager. This is to complement the feature that was added a few months ago to allow linked customers to launch Engager from TaxCalc.

General Maintenance

  • Customers can now search and find any of their linked clients in SmartVault as expected.

  • The Filing Status – MTD quarterly updates widget counters now shows data correctly and does not default to '0'.

  • In SQLite, created tax years are now visible in the Select Tax Year dialog.

  • Removal of a sentence that referenced a KB that was no longer active on the ‘Restore Database’ screen – users will no longer be clicking on a link that returns a 404.

  • When setting client restriction within the Admin centre, the view is now as expected.

  • Columns added to Practice Manager are now re-instated when the application is closed/re-opened.

  • Performance improvements made to the VS01 report to ensure that it is always generated (and generated faster).

Accounts Production

  • Charities incorporated as limited by guarantee can now file their financial statements electronically to Companies House in iXBRL format.

  • Accountant’s report – Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland (ICAS) and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has been updated with appropriate links.

General Maintenance

  • Opening Accounts Production will no longer display ‘Reference data is currently being updated’ when the status is completed (for some operating systems on a Mac).

  • Importing a trial balance from third party will no longer result in an application crash on Macs.  

  • The company information and director/member’s report will no longer display duplication if officers had ceased and then been re-appointed.

  • The independent examiner’s remuneration note will only display rows with values in current and/or previous year.

  • Financial statements for FRS 105 now include report of the directors for periods commencing on or after 6 April 2025.

  • Values entered for the highest paid director note will now save correctly.

  • Posting batch now saves the date correctly when changing the posting date.

  • Generating a pdf report with a watermark will no longer result in an error.

  • Where a prior year adjustment is posted, the Check & Finish(R) message will no longer be displayed indicating the Total comprehensive income in Statement of Changes in Equity does not match Statement of Comprehensive Income.

  • The iXBRL report has been updated to remove the additional line that resulted in a filing error for Community Interest Companies

  • Filing online will allow the user to file successfully to Companies House and will no longer result in the following online filling errors:

    • The item ‘{http://xbrl.frc.org.uk/fr/20250101/core}FurtherItemLoansAdvancesGrantedToRelatedPartiesClassifiedAsFinancingActivitiesComponentCorrespondingTotal’ is not dimensionally valid.

    • Cannot find context definition with id 'GROUP_CURRENT_FY_PERIOD_InvestJointVenture1' on element '{http://xbrl.frc.org.uk/fr/2025-01-01/core}NameJointVenture'.

    • 2 Inconsistent duplicate fact values (core:Equity).

    • "Element 'ix:hidden' cannot have character [children], because the type's content type is element-only."

Companies House Forms

  • Updated paper forms to reflect the Companies House fee increase effective 1 February 2026.

  • The following forms have been updated to their new versions.

    • CH02 - Change of corporate director’s details

    • CH03 - Change of secretary’s details

    • CH04 - Change of corporate secretary’s details

    • AP04 - Appointment of corporate secretary

    • SH01 - Return of allotment of shares

    • AA06 - Notice of statement of guarantee by subsidiary company

  • Form AA03 - Notice of resolution removing auditors from office has been removed, as the form is no longer in use following a change in legislation.

General Maintenance

  • Form CH01 will now successfully file to Companies House where the occupation field is populated in Practice Manager.

  • The confirmation statement will now populate all sections related to shares when the confirmation date is set to today’s date.

Biometric Identity Checks

  • An option is now available to delete a biometric check record.

AML Centre

  • A new field has been added to specify the issuing country when creating a new identity evidence record.

  • The UK Sanctions list has been updated with appropriate links.

General Maintenance

  • Identification and Risk Assessment records will now sync back to the Anti Money Laundering screen of the client record in Practice Manager.

  • Risk assessment records can now be created without any errors.

  • Sections requiring permissions for compliance officers will now be displayed correctly even if only one compliance role is created.

  • AML identification records will no longer populate an incorrect country after saving.

Technical

  • Upgrading the QT Framework that TaxCalc uses from QT5 to QT6.

  • This framework upgrade will enable TaxCalc to take advantage of newer technologies to maintain security and enhance functionality into the future.

  • NOTE: For Windows users only this will change the TaxCalc application from 32-bit to 64-bit. You will be automatically prompted to uninstall the existing 32-bit version during the setup of the new 64-bit version. This is expected.

TaxCalc Product Update - version 17.1.130 - Released on 13 February 2026

Companies House Filing History

  • Polling for submissions via the Companies House Filing Log, where submissions contained at least one Confirmation Statement with director verification pages, will no longer result in the application crashing.

  • Checking status via the Companies House Filing Log now works as expected in all scenarios and no longer displays the 'Companies House Filing History already open' dialog. A user that had this screen locked must log in once after update to clear the lock.

TaxCalc 2025 for Individuals & Self-Employed

  • Resizing the product interface main screen is now possible so that all options are accessible when a size other than the default screen resolution is used.
